2 professions that work great when combined are herbalism and alchemy. Just use the alchemy profession to create potions from the herbs that you collect with the herbalism profession.

You can also try combining skinning and leatherworking together. Skinning will provide you with the raw materials you need to make the armor with the leatherworking profession. Lot's of gold can be saved by going that route. Selling the items that you create will also make you gold.
